Walt Disney World is getting a number of new attractions before the resort’s 50th anniversary celebration, perhaps none bigger than a new rollercoaster coming to Magic Kingdom.
At D23, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek announced the Tron Lightcycle Power Run would be built behind Tomorrowland Speedway. This ride will be similar to the one built at Shanghai Disney Resort.
The Magic Kingdom attraction will take over the smoking area between Space Mountain and New Fantasyland. It’s important to note that early concept art shows the Main St. Railroad going through a tunnel of this upcoming attraction.
The coaster features lightcycle vehicles from the movie Tron, with passengers boarding them as if they were motorcycles.
Here’s a look at the Shanghai Disney Resort attraction:
There is no timetable for development on the new Magic Kingdom attraction, but it will be completed before the park’s 50th celebration in 2021.
