Diwali, India’s Festival of Lights, is Coming to ‘Up! A Great Bird Adventure’ This Winter

Animal Kingdom is joining Walt Disney World’s holiday festivities this winter with its first-ever addition to Up! A Great Bird Adventure, featuring Diwali.

Diwali is India’s biggest and brightest national holiday, celebrating Hinduism with the Festival of Lights.

It’s a five-day celebration of good over evil where people use oil lamps and electric lights to decorate their homes– ultimately lighting up the city. As a celebration of the victory of good over evil and light over darkness, light is an important physical and spiritual symbol of the holiday.

The colors, sights and sounds of Diwali will surely add to the beauty of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, pairing nicely with Rivers of Light and Pandora – The World of Avatar.

Here are some pictures of Diwali from around the world:

Disney says Diwali will be added to Up! A Great Bird Adventure starting November 8th.

There’s no confirmation if Diwali will be a park-wide, or at least an Asia-wide holiday celebration.

More details should become available in the near future.
