The Marvel universe and more importantly the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy were caught off guard by the firing of director James Gunn.
Gunn, who directed the first two installments and was working on a third, was fired over old, disturbing tweets that resurfaced.
The cast of the movie is noticeably unhappy with the firing, saying Gunn’s old tweets don’t reflect who he is now.
They released a joint statement, hoping to work with him again in the future.
There has been no update on the timeline, or who will direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
