Black Panther Becomes Third Movie Ever to Reach $700M at Domestic Box Office

Marvel Studios’ Black Panther continues to shatter box office records months after the movie’s release.

On Sunday August 5, the film became the third movie ever to cross the $700 million mark at the domestic box office., behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Avatar.

The film, which is in its 25th week of release (opened on February 16), first shattered box office records in it’s debut weekend by raking in $242.1M.

Black Panther is the biggest superhero release of all time in North America, and with an A+ CinemaScore and a 97% Certified Fresh on RottenTomatoes.

Earning an additional $646.7 million internationally, Black Panther’s global total has risen to $1.346 billion to date, ranking as the second biggest film of the year behind only Avengers: Infinity War.
