Mickey Mouse has evolved into a pop icon over the last 80+ years.
As his 90th birthday looms, Vault by Vans is releasing a new collection of footwear and tee shirts paying homage to the entertainment legend.
Four artists, including John Van Hamersveld, Mr. Cartoon, Geoff McFetridge, and Taka Hayashi, have created one-of-a-kind artwork that will be featured on Vans’ OG Sk8-Hi LX, as well as a short-sleeved tee. Each artist brings their own unique interpretation of Mickey, all while celebrating the things we love about this iconic character.
Canadian designer, illustrator, and animator Geoff McFetridge went for an illustrative style, highlighting Mickey’s famous yellow shoe.
Best known for his psychedelic patterns and vibrant color schemes, illustrator and graphic designer John Van Hamersveld plays with the idea of Mickey’s silhouette in his design.
Taka Hayashi decides to go with a denim-on-denim design.
Tattoo artist Mark Machado, more famously known as Mr. Cartoon, chose to feature Mickey driving a vintage car.
The collection is available on August 25 at select Vault by Vans accounts.
Mickey Mouse’s 90th birthday is November 18.
