Director James Cameron Applauds Marvel for Taking Down His “Titanic”

Avengers: Endgame is now the second-highest grossing movie of all-time, behind only Avatar.

Over the weekend it overthrew Titanic to steal the number 2 spot and become one of the only films to top $2B at the box office.

James Cameron, who directed Titanic, is applauding Marvel for their success and topping the 1997 classic.

He released this statement in a Facebook post, saluting Marvel President Kevin Feige and company:

This statement from Cameron is perplexing on many fronts. For one, it makes sense he’s happy for Marvel because many of Cameron’s films are now under the Disney umbrella… like Marvel.

However, this congratulatory post comes more than a year after he said he hopes for ‘Avengers fatigue’ during an interview with IndieWire.

All in all, Cameron still holds the top spot at the all-time box office with Avatar… for now.

He’s also working on a handful of sequels over the next 8 years.
