“The Simpsons” Could Retire Character After Russi Taylor’s Passing

Voice actress Russi Taylor’s passing has shocked Hollywood.

Taylor had been the voice of Minnie Mouse for more than three decades and has lent her voice to several other characters.

One of the characters she brought to life was Martin Prince on The Simpsons. She also provided the voices for others including the twins Sherri and Terri, as well as the German exchange student Uter Zorker.

In addition to Rob Iger, Bill Farmer and others… The Simpsons Executive Producer Al Jean released a statement following her passing:

There’s been no announcement yet, but The Simpsons could retire Martin Prince following Taylor’s passing.

When actress Marcia Wallace passed away in October 2013, Jean and the other producers made the decision to retire her character of Mrs. Krabappel, who was one of the most prominent side-characters in the series tenure.

The Simpsons also retired Lunchlady Doris for a few years after the passing of actress Doris Grau, though she has since returned to the series as voiced by cast member Tress MacNeille.

The Simpsons, which is now owned by Disney, will be available for streaming on Disney+ when the service launches later this year.
