“Frozen 2” Falls at Box Office Despite Crossing $1B Mark

Disney’s historic run at the box office continues through the end of 2019, as Frozen 2 reaches the $1B mark.

Last week, Disney reached the $10B milestone for worldwide sales in 2019— a record, and now Frozen 2 has become the sixth movie by the company to earn more than $1B alone.

The animated sequel is Disney Animation’s 3rd billion-dollar hit alongside Frozen and Zootopia, and the 7th biggest animated release of all time worldwide.

There are still markets to come on F2 including Brazil in January.

Internationally, Frozen 2 this weekend was still No. 1 in France, Germany, Poland, Australia, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Peru, Colombia, Central America, Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela– but in the U.S., the film slid to number 2. Jumanji: Next Level topped Frozen 2, ending the sequel’s reign at #1.
