Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is taking further action to prevent the spread of the coronavirus in the sunshine state.
He is issuing a stay-at-home order for the next 30 days. The order goes into effect at midnight Thursday night.
The governor said “it makes sense to do this now” after President Donald Trump announced earlier this week that the administration is extending its social distancing guidelines another 30 days.
As of the time of this blog post, the state has seen nearly 7,000 coronavirus cases and 87 deaths, according to the state health department.
