REPORT: Walt Disney World Could Use 2020 NBA Season to Propose for Annual Event

Walt Disney World is known for doing some pretty amazing things.

When it comes to sports, they’ve hosted professional soccer tournaments, the NFL Pro Bowl (four years in a row) and even organize NCAA basketball tournaments.

Their next steps: helping the NBA and MLS finish their seasons in the midst of a pandemic.

If this summer is successful with the two professional sporting leagues, Walt Disney World could be setting itself up for a longtime partnership with the NBA.

Yahoo! Sports writer Keith Smith, who is also a former cast members, says his sources believe Walt Disney World could use this summer’s experiment as a proposal to the NBA to host an annual event at ESPN Wide World of Sports if all goes well.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and Disney CEO Bob Iger have what appears to be a great relationship with the recent opening of the NBA Experience at Disney Springs and the plan to host the remainder of the 2020 season.
