Governor Ron Desantis has issued an executive order extending Florida’s state of emergency due to the coronavirus for another 60 days.
The state of emergency was first issued in mid-March, then again in May.
The move allows DeSantis to broaden his powers as governor, including allowing him to deploy National Guard troops if necessary, utilize out-of-state medical personnel, and swifly purchase necessary supplies.
The state confirmed 7,300 new virus cases Tuesday, bringing the total to almost 214,000. Another 63 people died, bringing the total to almost 4,000
