Los Angeles is recognizing February 27 as “Coco Day,” honoring Disney Pixar’s award-winning animated feature Coco.

Los Angeles City Councilman Gil Cedillo held a ceremony in the City of Angels, joined by director Lee Unkrich, producer Darla K. Anderson, actor Anthony Gonzalez (voice of Miguel) and Mariachi divas who performed songs from the movie.

Coco is the first animated feature to have almost an entirely Latino voice cast, including many who reside and grew up in the City of Los Angeles.

Many other city reps and minority organizations took things to the streets of Los Angeles to celebrate “Coco Day.”
