Sony Pictures CEO on Potential Spider-Man Deal: The Door is Closed

More sad news for Spider-Man fans, as it looks like the chances of the hero returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe are dwindling.

At Variety’s Entertainment and Technology Summit, Sony Pictures chairman and CEO Tony Vinciquerra spoke on the disconnect between Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures (who owns the rights to Peter Parker & actor Tom Holland).

They said: “for the moment the door is closed.”

The deal previously allowed Spider-Man to appear in Marvel Studios films to co-exist with other heroes. It expired following Spider-Man: Far From Home and Disney was unable to strike a deal with Sony Pictures to extend the contract.

Vinciquerra says there is “no ill will” between Sony and Marvel, which could be a good sign for a possible conversation in the future, and cryptically said, “it’s a long life,” in regards to the subject.
